Module 1 is the first of the two practical tests you need to pass to earn your full motorcycle licence. It takes place off the public road, on a closed test area, and checks that you can control your bike at low and moderate speeds. Our Module 1 training is designed to get you ready for it, whether you’re taking your first step towards an A2 or full category A licence, or you’ve sat the test before and want to put it right.
You’ll work with an experienced instructor on the manoeuvres you’ll be asked to perform on test day. These include slow-speed control exercises such as the slalom and figure of eight, a U-turn, and wheeling the bike with the engine off. You’ll also practise the higher-speed exercises: a controlled stop, an emergency stop, and a swerve to avoid an obstacle. We break each one down, explain what the examiner is looking for, and give you plenty of repetition until it feels natural. Our feedback is honest and specific, so you know exactly what to work on next.
Training runs on a bike matched to the licence category you’re aiming for, so you get used to the weight, power and handling you’ll be tested on. If you’re new to larger machines, we’ll cover the basics of balance, clutch and throttle control, and looking where you want to go, which are the habits that make the biggest difference. Groups are kept small so you get proper time on the bike and one-to-one attention.
Before you book, make sure you have a valid UK provisional licence, a current Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) certificate, and your theory test pass certificate. You’ll need to bring these with you, along with suitable riding gear: a helmet, gloves, sturdy boots, and textile or leather protective clothing. If you’re not sure whether you’re ready to book, or which licence category is right for you, get in touch and we’ll help you work it out.
